Product Review: Mascara

So, I'm gonna try something new, and start writing product reviews sometimes.  Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a cosmetic and hair product junkie...yes, junkie!  I looooooooove trying new products!

A quick disclaimer, though... I am not being paid for these reviews, and I do not receive free product, although that would be really cool.  I'd certainly take free demos in exchange for honest reviews!

For this post, I'm going to review three mascaras:

Okay, let's start with BADgal Waterproof Mascara by Benefit Cosmetics.

I've tried soooooooo many mascaras, and almost never use waterproof because they're too hard to remove.  This mascara has pros and cons, the biggest con being price ($19).  I like the brush, but the tube is really thin so you don't get much product for the price you're paying.  I also found it to be kinda dry...but, it comes off pretty easily with a good eye makeup remover (like Neutrogena).  It's a decent mascara, but it takes two to three coats to really get the volume I like...which is to say, to even see my blonde eye lashes.  Haha!

Overall, I'd rate this one a 3 (out of 5).

Moving onto Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.

Now this mascara, I LOVE.  Seriously LOVE.  Price is great (~$9), curved, spikey, plastic brush is freakin' amazing, and the mascara itself glides onto each lash brilliantly.  I actually tried a couple of other mascaras after using Lash Sensational, and every time, I want to go back to Lash Sensational.  It is truly that amazing!  I haven't found another drugstore or department store brand that can even compare.

Rating?  7 out of 5!!!  Yep, it tops the scale!

Finally, let's take a peek at Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes(TM) mascara.

I received this in an Ipsy bag about a year ago or so, and really, really liked it.  So much so, that I bought the full-sized tube from Sephora.  It's priced right in line with other department store brands, at $21, so it's a little pricey...especially since you can get an amazing mascara like Maybelline's Lash Sensational for only $9.  But, if you're a mascara snob and want a mascara that makes your lashes look incredible for the price of a brand name, then I recommend this one over any of the others.  I've also tried Dior's Diorshow mascara ($27 at Sephora), but Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes is my preference between the two.

My rating?  Hmmm...5.  Yep, it's that good...for a price.  If you want amazing for a bargain, go for Maybelline Lash Sensational.  Seriously.

Thanks for reading... there will be more of these coming.  I have a cabinet full of products I'm just dying to write about!

Love,
Marcie
Be amazing!

Catching up...

Wow, I hadn't realized just how long it had been since my last post... almost a year and a half!  YIKES!  Well, let's catch up, shall we?

Since my last post, I've mostly given up on all the DIY stuff... I just don't have time to make everything, and found I was actually spending more money to make stuff than it cost to buy it premade.  So, I'm back on commercial skin care and cleaning products, and couldn't be happier.  Life is good!

I have taken up acrylic art as a hobby, and have continued to crochet, which has been a passion of mine since my Grandma Valera taught me at the age of 9.  Here are a couple of the things I've done in the past year...

My family is doing very well, although I'd personally like to see time slow down because our daughters are growing up far too quickly.  Braeden is going into high school...HIGH SCHOOL!!!  How did that happen so fast?  And Kamryn is going in to middle school... it just blows me away how quickly they're growing up.  And they're wonderful... My heart is full of joy when I see them or think of them.

Anyway, that's the short of the last year or so.  I'd like to say I'll write more often, but who knows.  :)  For now, I'm enjoying the fleeting moments I have with my teenage daughters and my wonderful husband. How the man has put up with three women in the house is beyond me!  OH!  Next time, I'll post pictures of the herb garden he built for me!  Talk about elbow grease!  Haha!

For now...
